Pitchers must learn to hold and toss the ball properly. Put your middle finger onto the seam to start. Then, place a thumb on the opposite seam. This lets you grip the bat for the best distance and speed with some improved accuracy.

When batting, always wear a helmet. A helmet will protect your from head injuries. The best batting helmets will have a shield that also helps protect the face from balls that are either pitched badly or for hits that results in a foul ball.

TIP! When pitching, it’s a must to know how to best hold a ball and pitch the ball. First, you have to have the seam right under your middle finger.

Know where everyone is on the field. Many collisions could be avoided by simply knowing where each player is at all times. Player collisions can result in head injuries. The easiest way to keep away from collisions is to call for the baseball when you go after it.

Keep an eye on the batter when you are in the outfield. Normally, a right handed hitter will hit the ball to left field. Lefties do the opposite. Understanding this will help you to determine where the ball is probably going to head.

You can also help break in the glove leather by using leather softener. Use your fist to punch the weave. In practice, you’ll see that a glove that has been broken in is more effective.

TIP! Practice as often as possible to maximize your potential. A solid practice should start with a warm-up of ten minutes and continue with twenty minutes of individual and team drills.

The lights or sun often keep you from following the baseball. To avoid seeing spots, it is vital to know the best way to find the baseball without having to stare at the stadium lights or the sun. Block the lights with your glove at all times.
