Improve your form by perfecting your stride in baseball. If you’re a righty, push up a bit on your left leg as the pitch is coming toward you. Lefties do the opposite. As the ball gets closer, move in about 12 inches toward the pitcher. Stride shorter if you’re not very big.

Safety should be kept in mind when playing sports. That’s true especially for baseball. You must know where the baseball goes to keep yourself from getting injured. One ball to the mouth could send teeth flying. Other potentially dangerous situations abound, such as collisions between runners and players on the bases.

When you are running the bases, don’t ignore your coaches’ signals. Remember that your coaches have a much better view of the whole playing field. You need to focus on the bases and the third-base coach. Let the base coaches be your eyes. If they tell you to stop, stop at the closest base. When your coach gives you the signal to go, run as quickly as possible, touching each base with your left foot.

Ground balls will be affected by how the grass has been mowed. The patterns in the outfield grass can alter the direction of a baseball that is travelling along the ground. You must learn how the ball is going to react to these types of situations so you can get to the ball.
