Baseball Tips For Both Players And Fans

By The 9-Innings

When you are trying to learn how to play better baseball, you must be open to consistently learning new strategies and fundamentals. Each time you progress in the ranks, there are always expectations set and new tactics to learn. So, in essence you can always learn something. This article is here to teach you a few helpful tips to better your game.

When hitting make sure that your legs are in the right place. Proper athletic balance is important. Your legs need to be a bit wider than shoulder-width from each other. Flex your knees so that your weight is centered on the insides of your feet. Your knees need to be slightly bent toward one another.

Always wear a batting helmet when at bat. The reason you need a helmet on is so that you don’t injure your head. The most effective helmet will include a face shield that protects the wearer from foul balls and wild hits.

When swinging the bat, aim for the top center area of the ball. This will keep your bat aligned properly and will make it more likely that you will hit the ball every time. However if you want to hit home runs, aim for the bottom of the ball. You may miss more often, but your balls will get the height they need.

Keep your head up, your eyes level and focus on the ball when batting. You should be looking over your front arm. If you shift your eyes or move your head, your rear shoulder will shift in reaction. Remaining focused on the ball and keeping your head immobile will give you better timing and more consistency.

Be your team’s biggest hustler. You want to lead by example. That is the sort of clubhouse leader who alters the game. Be someone who your teammates look up to and want to follow.

When coaching baseball, make sure to have a reasonable schedule that is communicated effectively to all. Normally, a team will warm up during batting practice for a good ten minutes of stretching and throwing, then move on to a longer period of fielding and hitting drills. After doing this, run the bases for five minutes, and then do team defense with situation drills. Another 10 minutes of defense and some cool off time will complete the session. Have a little meeting, and practice is complete.

Always use a broken in glove. It definitely pays to break in that new baseball glove before the start of each season. Put your ball in your glove to break it in. Apply some leather conditioner to it. Try to punch the weave too. Gloves that have been broken in are much more effective.

Don’t be afraid to get your uniform dirty. Baseball is a game played in grass and dirt. You aren’t playing to 100% if you come out of any game with your uniform as pristine as it was when you first put it on. Make it a goal to get as dirty as possible.

If you are playing an outfield position, you need to choose the correct pair of sunglasses. These glasses should not distort your peripheral vision. The best styles are those that are frameless. The sunglass lens should wrap all the way to your temples to help keep the maximum amount of sunlight from your eyes.

Are you now ready to play some baseball with your team? Taking the tips you’ve read about out there with you on the field will help you play a much better game. Your teammates are counting on you as well as your coach, and you just might make that play that everyone talks about after the game.
