Shift all of your weight to your back foot to maximize your hitting. If you are a right handed batter, this puts your weight onto your right foot, tightening the muscles in that thigh. As you swing the bat, your rear foot will give you an extra burst of power.

Keep an eye on the signs from your coaches as you are running bases. They are able to see the entire field. Focus on the coaches and not only on the ball. Allow them to see for you. If the coaches signal you to hold, make sure that you stay put at the closest available base. If they are signaling go, run at full speed.

Act like a professional at tryouts. Whether the team is your school’s or it’s your local little league team, politeness will go a long way. This will allow them to see that you’re mature which is always a good thing.

TIP! During tryouts, be friendly and respectful to everyone. It is vital to be as polite as possible when you are trying out.

How the grass on the field is mowed can affect how ground balls roll. Lines that are outfield will alter the course of the ball along the ground. When learning how a ball reacts when rolling along the lines, you can get it to where that ball stops.

Make sure that your baseball glove is properly broken in before you begin to practice. A month or so ahead of time, begin getting your new glove out and working with it. Put your ball in your glove to break it in. Also, you can apply leather softener to make it more malleable. Punch the weave with your fist. In practice, you’ll see that a glove that has been broken in is more effective.
