Shake things up some if you realize that it’s hard to get your team’s attention and focus as a coach. Practicing the same exact drills constantly can get really mundane. Every practice should be fresh and have a different drill order.

TIP! If your coaching becomes frustrating due to lack of attention being paid, try some new things. If you constantly do the exact drills, the team will get bored.

Holding the ball right is as important as throwing it correctly. The middle finger must be placed on the seam of the ball. Then, you position your thumb on top of the other seam. This allows you to properly grip the ball for maximum speed and distance along with improved accuracy.

Be keenly aware of the position of players on the field. Many collisions can be prevented by knowing the whereabouts of other players. When the players collide, they can get injured. Tell your teammates when you’re planning on catching the ball.

TIP! Always pay attention to where players are during the game. Many collisions can be avoided when you know where the other players are on the field.

Safety is key. This is very true for baseball. Prevent injury by always knowing the location of the ball. Errant baseballs can knock teeth lose. Also, make sure you keep your eye on the men on base as they can cause you injury.

Make sure to wear a helmet when you get up to hit. These helmets are necessary to protect the batters from head injuries. Ideally, a batting helmet should have a strong shield that prevents the face from getting hit by a ball that is pitched in the wrong spot and from foul balls as well.

Practice as often as possible to maximize your potential. Typically, a good practice requires a warm-up of about ten minutes, then individual and team drills of about twenty minutes. Practice running the bases and field grounders and pop-ups. End the practice with a ten-minute drill on defense for specific positions, then cool down. Have a little meeting, and practice is complete.

Be the biggest hustler on your team. You should strive to be the person with the work ethics that rub off on the team. This kind of leadership can change the game. Be the person who others count on to make a difference.

Watch your base coaches as you run. Remember that these coaches are able to see the whole field. Make sure your focus is on running the bases rather than on the ball. They can serve as your eyes. If the coaches tell you to stop, brake at the next base. If they want you to keep running, don’t hesitate.

Watch the batter when in the outfield. A batter who stands on the right side of the plate will generally hit the ball toward left field. On the other hand, a batter who is left handed usually hits the ball to right field. You’ll have a better chance to predict the likely course of any hit prior to the pitcher’s throw if you pay attention to the way these batting trends work.
