By The 9-Innings

Baseball is one of the most popular sports in the world these days; people are watching and playing it all over the world. But, are you one of many people who are clueless when it comes to this exciting sport? If so, the following baseball article is sure to help you out.

To get into the right batting stance, send weight to the rear foot. If you’re holding a bat right handed, you can put your weight onto your right foot so that your thigh muscle is more tight on that side. As you swing, your rear foot will push through with power.

If you play an outfield position, be sure you and your fellow outfielders have proper communication skills. When a ball is popped up into the outfield, it’s important to know who will be going after it. If you cannot get this straight, the ball could end up dropping or you could collide with your teammate.

When swinging the bat, aim for the top center area of the ball. This will keep your bat aligned properly and will make it more likely that you will hit the ball every time. However if you want to hit home runs, aim for the bottom of the ball. You may miss more often, but your balls will get the height they need.

Know where every other player is on the field at all times. Most collisions can be avoided if every player knows where the others are positioned. Serious head injuries may occur when players collide. With the right communication, you can let other players know you are headed after a ball and collision chances can be reduced.

The bat angle is important in baseball. The bat needs to be about 45-degree angle with the knob of that bat pointing towards the opposite batter’s box. All proper swings start here, regardless of their starting position. This is because the bat is in the pitched ball’s plane. Unnecessary movements are avoided during swings by using this starting bat angle.

Do you know how to steal a base? If a bad pitch is thrown, it is time to take off towards the next base. However, make sure that you have enough time to get to the base before taking off. Otherwise, you may get an unnecessary out for your team.

To be a better player in the outfield, you have to be moving. If you stand in the same position too long, your legs can get tight and you will not be able to run when a ball is headed your way. The best way to stay moving is to take a few steps between pitches.

When running the bases, don’t ignore the signs that your base coaches are giving you. You should focus on the bases and the base coaches because they can see the entire field. Focus only on the coaches when you are running the bases. Allow them to be your eyes. If the coaches signal you to hold, make sure that you stay put at the closest available base. If they want you to keep running, don’t hesitate.

If you are in the outfield, learn to read the ball. With practice, you can know approximately where the ball will land each time the ball is hit. Carefully, watch the pitcher so you know the speed of the ball when it crosses the plate. By simply knowing the speed you can judge how far the ball will be hit.

As the beginning of this article mentioned, baseball is viewed and played in all corners of the world. But, you might not have known much about this sport until you read the article above. With the information you just read, you will become a baseball expert in no time at all!
